Nuveen is the investment management arm of TIAA. It is one of the largest global asset managers with specialist knowledge across a wide array of asset classes.

The Analyst position will report to the MD of Sustainability Client Engagement in Real Assets, and will support her in developing and executing the real assets sustainability strategy and platform.This individual will have a unique position in developing and driving the strategic sustainability agenda and initiatives for the overall Real Assets organization.This individual will also collaborate with key partners across Nuveen, TIAA and affiliates.

The role will be to manage the integration of sustainability across the real assets platform globally. The candidate will support the strategy development, assist in the investment due diligence process, monitoring, and reporting.

Specifically, candidates must be passionate about sustainability and have experience working effectively within an enterprise/matrix organization and building strong relationships with key business leaders and investment managers. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, interact, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines is essential. In addition, the individual will have unquestionable integrity, with an uncompromising commitment to quality and superb attention to detail. This role will require well-developed financial/quantitative analytical skills as well as working knowledge of investments, financial products and distribution. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. Real Assets knowledge is preferred. Speaking Portuguese is a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities:

ESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and execution of the real assets sustainability strategy and operational framework across real assets
  • Assist in the pre-investment due diligence process related to sustainability
  • Monitor sustainability trends, including new regulations and business practices
  • Analyze sustainability performance data and benchmarking across the portfolio
  • Contribute to internal and external reporting on sustainability
  • Lead the effort to collect and analyze data to be published in an annual report
  • Collaborate with the company's internal groups to develop a coordinated sustainability plan
  • Assess the Company's current sustainability performance and identify and prioritize the company's key sustainability gaps relative to industry best practices
  • Formulate action plans with defined objectives, targets and responsibilities to support agreed upon sustainability strategies
  • Measure and monitor progress against sustainability strategies, objectives and performance targets
  • Build effective partnerships with external organizations to support sustainability efforts

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in sustainability / ESG
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and problem-solving capabilities
  • Familiarity with real assets
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to articulate complex business issues
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience creating sophisticated presentation materials
  • Basic project management skills
  • Willingness to travel for business as needed
  • Ability to speak Portuguese a plus
