Citi Research is seeking an Artificial Intelligence Engineer for its Research Innovation Lab, a team of more than 30 professionals in the fields of data science, survey development, geospatial analysis, web scraping and product development. Based in New York, the successful candidate will have experience in a variety of AI techniques, and will develop Citi's projects in natural language processing, predictive analytics, and modeling large and diverse data sets.

  • Work closely with data scientists, linguists, ontologists, and software engineers to develop Citi's AI systems from proof of concept to production
  • Lead Citi in staying on top of the latest advances in artificial intelligence and their application to financial research


  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or related field
  • A strong track record of research publications and conference presentations in artificial intelligence
  • Experience with one or more of the following: recommendation systems, intelligent agents, predictive modeling, NLP, pattern recognition, targeting systems or similar
  • Experience implementing algorithms such as support vector machines, clustering, graphical models, decision trees or similar in enterprise environment for large scale applications
  • A strong track record of research publications and conference presentations in machine learning and artificial intelligence is a plus
Technical Skills/Knowledge
  • Expertise in one or more general purpose programming languages including: Java, C/C++ or Python
  • 4+ years of experience as an artificial intelligence engineer or scientist
  • Proficiency in a functional programming language such as Haskell, Lisp, or Scala
  • Software development tools such as JIRA and Git
  • Theoretical understanding of a wide variety of machine learning algorithms and practical ability to implement them as appropriate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication- must be a confident and effective communicator at all levels
  • Results-oriented approach - ability to get things done
  •  Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Ability to work with teams across multiple regions
  • Accuracy and close attention to detail
  • Strong organizational capabilities
