Sr. Business Banking Loan Administrator

SUMMARY: Responsibility for insuring that loans close in compliance with approved terms and conditions, regulatory requirements, Bank policy and documentation standards. Also has post-closing responsibility for construction loans to ensure that loans are in balance at all times and construction is progressing according to approved plans and budgets. This role primarily supports the Business Banking Lending Division, but may support other lending divisions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

  • Works with loan officers, borrowers and third party professionals (attorneys, appraisers, inspectors, etc) in order to close loans in conformity
    with approved terms and conditions.

  • Has responsibility for being the primarily point of contact for initiating and coordinating the closing process.

  • Reviews all loan documents prior to closing to ensure that they will cover the intended collateral and document the borrower's
    and guarantor's obligations to the bank.

  • Uses the tickler system to follow-up on missing or incomplete documentation, with the support of Process Administrators.

  • Prepares loan funding information based upon the approval and closing documents.

  • Works with participant banks in arranging for funding on loans sold or purchased.

  • Reviews renovation draws for completeness and accuracy and checks against approved budget.
    Arranges for third party inspections prior to authorizing payment.

  • Ensures that construction loans remain in balance throughout the life of the loan and that construction is active and on schedule.

  • Processes pre-closing escrow deposits made by customers held against closing costs such as fees, appraisals, etc.

  • Verifies that appraisals have been received and reviewed prior to closing. .

  • Verifies that all pre-closing conditions have been met prior to authorizing funding.

  • Prepares files for all loans assigned.

  • Obtains insurance for all construction loans and all corporate loans.

  • Maintains open communications with the relationship officer and the senior loan production officer to keep them informed at all
    times as to the status of loans assigned.

  • Obtains approvals for wire transfers and general ledger entries.

  • Communicates payments or required fundings to participant banks.

  • Sends copies of documentation to participant banks.

  • Makes decisions as to whether to fund loans after consultation with a Senior Commercial Loan Administrator or the
    Commercial Loan Administration Supervisor.


  • May make funding determinations, depending on experience and authority granted.

  • Will be assigned more complex packages.

  • Mentors junior level Business Business Loan Administrators

Business Banking Loan Administrator: Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience. 2-5 years prior experience in a loan operations or loan closing environment.
Senior Business Banking Loan Administrator: Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience. 5+ years prior experience in a loan operations or loan
closing environment.
