Regulatory Complaince Analyst - Bank Advisory and Treasury Compliance

Overall purpose of role

The purpose of the role is to support and maintain the compliance program established for US banking rules and regulations (e.g. advice, monitoring, training, policy development, etc), to engage with business areas and support functions impacted by relevant rules on compliance matters, and to partner with the Global and US compliance team providing product compliance coverage to US Treasury.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support effort to provide advice to compliance colleagues and businesses on applicable US rules/regulations
  • Conduct compliance related surveillance and monitoring and participate in reviews of compliance processes and controls within compliance and within impacted businesses to assess effectiveness
  • Assist front office and support areas with development of compliance related processes and procedures
  • Assist in creation and distribution of relevant bank regulatory compliance MIS to various stakeholders and governance forums
  • Create and deliver in-person and on-line compliance training
  • Liaise with, coordinate with and support as necessary business line compliance colleagues
  • Monitor, update and develop as necessary compliance policies/standards and advise impacted front office and infrastructure areas on procedure development
  • Identify, track and action, as necessary, new relevant rules and regulations or changes to existing regulations
  • Support regulatory compliance colleagues in responding to various regulatory requests and examinations
  • Assist in conducting Compliance Risk Assessments

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

Candidate should have very good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work as part of a team. Stakeholders include: compliance colleagues (including compliance management); front office staff; staff in other infrastructure areas (e.g. Finance, Operations, Risk, Legal, etc.); Regulatory Relations; and legal entity and regional management

Decision-making and Problem Solving

Role will include working with BAC/Treasury compliance team members to answer questions on particular transactions or rules, and making decisions regarding both. Items and issues arising from compliance surveillance and monitoring will need to be assessed and investigated. Role will also involve assisting with on-going review and assessment of the existing compliance program/process and looking for relevant enhancements or changes as well as contributing to the departmental compliance risk assessment process

Person Specification

Basic Qualifications/Skills:

  • 4-year college degree or foreign equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory or some other risk or control function
  • 2+ years of experience working with mass information delivery systems (e.g. SharePoint, etc.) and Microsoft office products (Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Direct experience with US rules/regulations and with US regulators
  • Able to analyze and interpret regulatory rules and their impact on the business
  • Able to represent and enforce compliance while considering the needs of the business
  • Able to work autonomously and to challenge when appropriate
