Business Unit Overview
The Investment Accounting Group (IAG) provides accounting and regulatory data services to clients who have outsourced their accounting function to BlackRock. Our Accounting Services include the preparation and oversight of multi-bases monthly accounting and reporting packages. This offering covers multiple assets classes (Securities, Equities, Derivatives, Mortgages, Alternatives).
IAG has been rapidly growing our service platform beyond our traditional base of insurance clients and developing our accounting operating platform to extend asset class coverage. We are investing in new Aladdin technology to develop an integrated accounting and risk platform with the goal of being an industry-leading investment accounting provider.
Your Role
To further fuel our growth and extend our depth, we are seeking a high-energy, self-motivated accounting professional with strong technical skills and in-depth knowledge of financial instruments with a focus on mortgage loans.
The role provides an excellent opportunity to be a key component of the Accounting team that is passionate about developing investment process solutions for all investments using the capabilities of other parts of the BlackRock organization!
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills
Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of BlackRock's capabilities, and product structures
Manage internal oversight and focus on processing and reporting for mortgage loans
Maintain consistent method for handling mortgage loans assets across clients
Discuss processing and reporting requirements internally and with clients
Provide input regarding the future direction and long-term strategy to support designated product
Coordinate and validate software functionality including recommendations for improvement
Identify, drive, and prioritize development requests and enhancements impacting BlackRock processes and systems
Represent IAG on internal cross-functional projects and working groups in support of delivering key business and client objectives
Knowledge/Experience/Requirements
BS Degree in Finance or Accounting or related experience
7-10+ years of financial/accounting work experience with mortgage loans
3-5+ years of supervisory experience
Firm knowledge of the business models of insurance companies including the regulatory and accounting constraints under which they operate
Familiarity with GAAP/STAT/IFRS and accounting policies as it relates to investments
Strong and effective communication skills to deal directly with clients and across all levels of staff and management
Ability to prioritize assignments without losing sight of overall objectives and deadlines
Strong decision-making skills to make well thought out decisions based on information provided
Strong attention to detail and project management skills
