VP - Sr. Specialist, DevOps & Implementation


Technology Operations is a function within the application development organization that provides support and guidance for many software development activities. The operations team standardizes the use of various Agile and DevOps best practices to implement strategies set by upper management. The operations team does whatever is needed to keep the development team focused on software development.

We are looking for a developer to help build out the Agile and DevOps tool set that will be used to manage a large development organization. She/he will document the new process and deploy it to various development teams. She/he will also build various dashboards and scorecards to measure the tool's adoption and impact.

An excellent candidate is very knowledgeable in IT and computer systems. They have a solid technical background while able to manage and motivate people. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the latest Agile and DevOps technology and trends.

  • Agile methods (XP, Scrum, Kanban)
  • Agile & DevOps practices (Standups, planning poker, backlogs, CI/CD)
  • Agile & DevOps tools - JIRA, Git, Jenkins,


The candidate may act as a Scrum Master for several development driven initiatives. This involves

  • Guiding the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution


Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required,
  • 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience in analysis, development, and evaluation of IT systems, preferably within a financial institution
  • Deep understanding of Agile or DevOps
  • Experience managing or mentor/coach offshore teams
