Big Data Engineer - Hadoop

The group within the Consumer & Community Banking is responsible for the various data platforms used by the business. The Data Engineering team is responsible for end to end data services for multiple Big Data platforms supporting all the analytical use cases for retail banking and also supporting several key Machine Learning initiatives.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
- Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
- Understanding of architecture and design across all systems
- Working proficiency in developmental toolsets
- Knowledge of industry wide technology trends and best practices
- Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture
- Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement
- Experience in Hadoop stack - Hive / Impala / Spark SQL
- Experience in one of the following is desired - Python/ Java / Spark development
- Any traditional databases knowledge like Greenplum or Teradata is preferred. Good SQL skills preferred.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with users, make presentations and guide conversations.
- Exposure in Data Management, Governance and Controls functions
- Experience in Big Data technologies like Pig, Kafka is preferred
- Experience in data analysis, validation and reporting is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry leading Business Intelligence tools
- Experience with machine learning is huge plus.
