Job Description

The Loan Review Lead Examiner plans, oversees and reports on assigned loan review examinations. Ensures own work, as well as, any employee supervised, is in compliance with established requirements. Assigns examination grades and trends to Credit Administration and Credit Quality through the loan review examination process and use of loan review tools

Requirements

Leads a team focused on assigned loan examinations and generally assumes the lead position, providing supervision and assignments to team members as Examiner In Charge, as well as, reviewing and approving 1st review of work papers completed by staff
Works with Loan Review Portfolio Monitoring team to understand current risks and issues in assigned examination
Uses loan review tools to assign grades and trends for Credit Administration and Credit Quality
Provides support, oversight, direction, expertise, and ensures work performed is within established requirements
Plans examinations activity, including assisting with time and staffing budgets
Reviews issues with business line management subsequent to review by Senior Exam Manager
Drafts exam reports
Responsible for contact with management regarding scope, status, and issues
May execute on more complicated process components for critical areas of examinations
Provides on-the-job training for staff
Is a subject matter expert in certain product types or for more specialized lending areas
Leads assigned special projects
Assists in completion of staff evaluations and other people management responsibilities
Updates, revises, and improves existing procedures and programs
Adds value through consultative interactions with business line management
Participates in or monitor business line projects per Loan Review Director request
May participate in aspects of ongoing risk assessment and portfolio reporting
Works at direction of Senior Exam Manager/Group Manager or Loan Review Directo

  • Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.


  • Qualifications

    4 Year undergraduate degree required
    10 + years of related Loan Review, Business line, Credit, Regulatory or Credit Administration experience required
    In-depth knowledge of Loan Review principles, practices, and governing regulations
    Previous management and leadership experience
    Strong coaching and counseling skills
    Ability to delegate work to others
    Strong decision-making and follow through ability
    PC skills (MS Office Suite)
    Works well independently and with others
    Strong oral and written communication skills
    Strong Analytical skills
    Ability to manage multiple priorities, including examinations, projects, and administrative responsibilities while meeting deadlines
    Project management and team working experience
    Promotes the use of advanced loan review techniques such as loan review tool use and continuous portfolio monitoring
    Ability to build and maintain relationships with peers and management
    Ability to resolve conflicts
    Strong knowledge of laws and regulations governing the banking industry
