The Expertise We're Looking For

  • 7-10 years of Project Management experience in financial services, systems development, product development, and/or project/product management
  • Expertise in various project management methodologies, including Agile
  • Expertise in the Benefits, Payroll, Retirement and/or Human Resources space strongly desired
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Previous Fidelity experience helpful

The Purpose of Your Role

As part of the Fidelity Benefits Marketplace Product Strategy & Marketing organization, the senior project manager is responsible for the oversight and management of projects of varying size and scope. He or she leads planning and development of deliverables for assigned projects using Fidelity and industry accepted methodologies including: identifying project team roles and responsibilities, change control, risk/Issue management, financial plan, resource plan, communications plan, work management plan, quality management and project closure. He or she provides leadership and support to business and system partners through active project management and the successful candidate will be capable of executing in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

  • Understanding of core product mechanics, record keeping systems, and regulatory environment
  • Critical thinker with good judgment and initiative; ability to think strategically and tactically across functions and product categories
  • Ability to analyze more complex project/product issues
  • Capable of functioning with high degree of autonomy
  • Strong organizational skills to define and meet deadlines within highly matrixed organization
  • Strategic as well as tactical orientation
  • Collaboration, negotiating/influencing skills, strong presentation/facilitation skills
  • Product experience a plus
  • Understanding of the Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Methodology including Agile
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project

  • Providing integrated oversight and controls for assigned projects, from initial project assessment through launch for all business readiness and technology solution activities and deliverables; ensuring that scope is met on schedule and within budget.
  • Executing project methodology with rigor, while maintaining flexibility in application, within large scale, multi-workstream programs
  • Developing strong collaborative project teams that enable its members to handle tasks with both agility and tenacity
  • Identifying, tracking, and clearing all potential road blocking issues to provide the business with a smooth implementation
  • Designing communication strategies that effectively and efficiently share information and project progress to multi-level managerial tiers
  • Scrutinizing alternative solutions for near term project impacts as well as long term scalability and support factors to ensure an optimal outcome for the business .
  • Collaborating and influencing outcomes in a large matrix-managed environment, and across multiple and diverse groups (e.g. participating technology resources and business resources on the project team).
  • Providing oversight in the validation of systems designs to ensure alignment with the business objectives and to ensure systems are capable of meeting business priorities with no unexpected system capability issues.
