As the Director, you will lead a team of claim employees focused on process improvement. You will be supported by the Vice President of Claims. Overall responsibilities will be successfully identifying opportunities for streamlining efficiencies within the operation, implementing process improvement and workflow design changes and holding self, and others accountable for delivering exceptional results. As the facilitator of root cause analysis discussions, you will develop action plans to address workflow gaps. In addition to leading, developing and maintaining Leads development, maintenance, and consistent application of best claims practices. Defines and directs analysis to evaluate process adherence and consistency. Conducts process review on all segments, end-to-end mapping with waste elimination & optimizes efficiencies. This role will also involve a continuous renewal aspect. You must be committed to the recruitment, training, and development of Horace Mann's staff. Job Summary: Overall, this role leads a team of claim professionals handling Non-Injury and Express and is responsible for ensuring outstanding customer service, superior loss mitigation including anti-fraud efforts. The ideal candidate will be analytically and technically strong, possessing advanced knowledge and skills with respect to Non-Injury and Express, liability determination, damage assessments, recovery opportunity recognition and special investigations. Provides technical claims oversight and support and develops and implements claims standards. Develops and manages Property and Casualty claims managers and/or staff.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 10 years Claims experience
- Experience managing and leading people, including performance management
- Six Sigma Certification, desired
- Minimum 5 years of experience with claims processing for auto and/or homeowner lines of business.
- Demonstrated experience investigating and analyzing increasingly complex claims through settlement, arbitration or trial.
- Experience with analyzing and implementing metrics and results.
- Maintains awareness of all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Some travel required
