Safety Specialist

Key Role

Provide support and knowledge on OSHA general industry and construction regulations, as well as ISO 45001 standard. Develop and deliver formal OSH training coursework on OSH topics including, Hot Work, Lockout/Tagout, Ergonomics, Indoor Air Quality, Fall Protection, Hazardous Materials Management, Occupant Emergency Plan. Conduct research of regulations, consensus standards, and other literature to inform the development and annual update of OSH programs including the facilitys Powered Industrial Trucks program, Hot Work Permitting, Lockout/Tagout program, Ozone-Depleting Substance program, Paint Management program, Contractor Orientation Manual. Conduct ergonomic assessments and industrial hygiene monitoring, such as indoor environmental quality (IEQ) assessments, personnel exposure monitoring, area monitoring, and exposure control functionality verifications and assist with managing the facilitys chemical inventory system, including generating reports, performing chemical inventory updates, managing user access, and training. Provide fire and life safety support, including compliance inspections, assisting in fire drills, updating the Occupant Emergency Plan.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in OSH within large non-manufacturing facilities
  • Experience with state and federal OSH and environmental regulations including OSHA, EPA, consensus standards published by ACGIH, NIOSH, ASHRAE, NFPA,
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint , Microsoft Sharepoint, Oracle
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including using various communication methods, such as email, presentations, and in-person interviews
  • Possession of excellent time management skills including the ability to identify and resolve deadline issues
  • ASP, GSP or CSP, CIH, CFPS, or AHA CPR and AED Certified Instructor
  • OSHA 40 Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification
  • Completion of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Generator training
