TIAA is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer - Cloud for their Charlotte, NC, Broomfield, CO, Denver, CO, or Chicago, IL office. This role will work alongside our various lines of business to help troubleshoot and resolve datastore integrity and performance issues.  We are seeking an experienced Information Technology professional who has an advanced level of knowledge and experience with cloud platforms. The selected candidate will have experience in all aspects of data store services that includes automation, monitoring, incident, change, problem, release and event management.

This is a hands-on technical SME role. This position will interface with engineers, application development and other support team. The candidate should have a good understanding of servicing data store on cloud platforms (i.e. AWS, Azure, and Google).


  • Manage datastores in AWS Services (EC2, Cloudtrail, IAM, Config, cloudwatch, S3, Lambda) via CLI and API within a multi account production environment
  • Manage security, operations and governance on the cloud platform/technologies
  • Oversight of Data Stores on the Cloud Service infrastructure, monitoring and capacity management of proprietary Cloud base platforms systems at web scale in a fully virtualized Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) operating environment
  • Develop KPI reports to ensure SLAs are met
  • Simplify, solve and communicate complex problems
  • Monitor and identify capacity and performance issues for cloud services to ensure continued, uninterrupted operations
  • Partner and collaborate with internal team and vendors
  • Anticipate technology changes within a rapidly evolving environment
  • Ensure compliance in related tasks with company and regulatory policies and procedures
Qualifications: Required:
  • Bachelors of Science degree
  • Seven years experience with IT Technology or equivalent professional experience and training
  • Two (2) years experience with Amazon (AWS) products such as EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda, ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, EMR, Kinesis, SQS/SNS)
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Docker, Terraform or similar technologies
  • Possess a foundational understanding of  DevOps and CI/CD processes
  • Five (5) years experience with Red Hat Linux, Windows, Networking and/or storage management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud products and support
  • Experience with Cloudforms and OpenShift
  • Three (3) years experience with Oracle, MySQL, Python, NodeJS, NGINX, and Tomcat
