How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:
This Prohet Model Steward will oversee the maintenance and governance of all actuarial Prophet models used for Valuation and Projections functions.

This position supports an essential function which will provide assurance to model users of the validity and transparency of model results for use in financial statements, and for analysis and risk management purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Recommend and establish a well governed process to coordinate the model backlog. This includes engagement with model users to facilitate the prioritization and timing of model changes
• Govern and manage the model development lifecycle to meet the needs of the model users
• Provide training, modeling guidance and best practices to modeling team
• Develop knowledge of Prophet model objects, to allow for optimal model design decisions
• Supervise the change management and version control processes, including model merges and model releases
• Maintain relationships with software vendors
• Collaborate with IT on version control and the maintenance of models in a production environment
• Oversee the implementation and testing of new software releases, library updates, new products, new regulatory requirements, and shared table changes
• Other responsibilities as required

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
• Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation
• 7+ years modeling experience in open code actuarial modeling software (MoSes, Prophet, PathWise, etc.)
• Significant product knowledge and experience with actuarial Valuation and Projections requirements, to understand modeling requirements for Life and Annuity products
• Strong management skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Conceptual and analytical skills to develop solutions to complex problems
• Sound business judgment skills (decision-making and problem solving)

Key Relationships:
Direct Reports/Team: Manages a team of 2-5 model analysts and model developers
Other Key Stakeholders: Collaborate and ensure consistency with Life and Annuity Model Stewards. Closely partners with model users, including Valuations, Actuarial Projections. Financial Projections, VA ALM, and GA ALM. Alignment with Model Risk Management and technology teams is critical for success in this role. This role requires strategic resource planning, including consultants and potentially temporary staff during time sensitive projects.
