Job Summary

Barings' Product Management & Development Team is seeking a Consultant Database Analyst. This position will be located in the Charlotte, NC office and reports to the RFP Manager. The primary objective for this role is the ability to understand and thoroughly represent Barings' full product range in global third party and consultant databases including eVestment, Mercer, Cambridge and others which global consultants, clients and prospects utilize to conduct investment manager searches. Additionally, this role will focus on establishing and enhancing existing competitive intelligence reporting for product management and business development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as point person for all third party and consultant databases while understanding the role of consultants and the competitive landscape
  • Responsible for monthly & quarterly database updates ensuring data accuracy and completeness; updates include performance, portfolio characteristics, assets, personnel and qualitative information; work closely with third-party database automation vendor
  • Create reporting for timing of updates, completeness of information and accomplishments on a monthly and quarterly basis to regularly communicate goals and progress
  • Complete consultant driven questionnaires and requests that are more data focused
  • Partner with subject matter experts to create new strategy profiles as directed by the Consultant Relations and Sales teams in existing and new databases
  • Regularly review existing database content to ensure it is accurately represented in the best light; recognize new categories in databases
  • Develop and enhance business intelligence reporting for product management and business development
  • Assist RFP Writers with data sections of requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for information (RFIs)
  • Collaborating with team members on ad hoc projects


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related major
  • 1 3 years of experience within the financial services industry
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Experience building reporting within data visualization tools preferred (e.g. Power BI and Tableau)
  • Experience extracting and analyzing data from eVestment and Morningstar and/or using their data feeds and APIs a plus
  • Ability to build internal relationships with key data providers and stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and apply creative thinking to problems and systems/process enhancements
  • Excellent organizational skills including managing multiple priorities and the ability to perform under tight deadlines
  • A positive, collegial attitude and a high level of professionalism
