Job Summary

Barings' Product Management & Development Team is seeking an RFP Intern for the Barings Summer Internship Program. The primary objective for the team is to assist the company in raising assets by developing, maintaining and distributing clear, accurate, consistent and persuasive firm and product information for use in formal institutional and retail business proposals.

This internship is designed to have a meaningful and lasting impact on the quality and efficiency of the overall RFP team as we present our investment capabilities in the best light and assist in winning new business for the firm.

After the 10-week internship program, outstanding performers will be considered for a full-time position upon graduation based on strong performance and the needs of the business.

Primary Responsibilities

During this internship you will learn and seek to enhance the core responsibilities of an RFP Writer as described below:

Primary responsibilities include the completion of requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for information (RFIs) for institutional and wealth clients globally to tight deadlines, maintaining and disseminating product and firm information through the RFP database (PMAPS) and assisting the sales and product management teams with any requests for information they have. This person will be focused primarily on Barings full range of Fixed Income and Alternatives products.

  • RFP production process, organization and timeliness.
  • Ensure adherence to the formal RFP production, back-up and review process within the given client deadline.
  • Manage internal deadlines for those involved in the process, from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) input across the company, as well as sales and product management/ investment review of each response.
  • RFP responses accuracy and quality.
  • Ensure that answers in RFPs are accurate and present the investment case for Barings in the best light at all times. Ensure that the competitive advantages of the company and our products come across strongly in RFPs.
  • Keep abreast of changes within the firm, product and industry, ensuring changes are reflected in RFPs and the RFP database. Ensure information flow through the RFP team.
  • Global Business Development Group and Product Management assistance timeliness and quality.
  • Respond to requests for assistance from Global Business Development Group, Product Management and other colleagues. Own and disseminate accurate product and firm information.
  • RFP database (PMAPs) development and maintenance of investment product content.
  • Assist in the on-going enhancement and maintenance of the RFP database of responses (PMAPs). Demonstrate strong writing ability to draft any new content required.
  • Work with product managers, investment managers and other content owners/ SMEs to ensure accurate, consistent and compelling content
  • Raising profile of RFP team within Barings.
  • Develop the RFP team's profile with the investment, product management and sales teams; build relationships and develop strong knowledge of product management, marketing and sales initiatives. Participate proactively in team projects and initiatives.
  • Fulfill additional, relevant, tasks appropriate to the role and business requirements

Qualifications

  • Current junior pursuing bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Marketing, or related field required
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively across the organization
  • Ability to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • A positive, collegial attitude and a high level of professionalism
  • Attention to detail/accuracy oriented
  • Self-motivated, hard worker and eager to learn
  • Excellent time-management, multi-tasking and organization skills
