Corporate Investments Senior Macro Economic Analyst
Job Description:

Bank of America's Chief Investment Office is seeking a Senior Macro Economic Analyst to add to the team. CIO Senior Macro-Economic Analysts share timely, relevant economic and financial data and analysis with CIO Portfolio Managers ("PMs"), Treasury and Senior Management across the bank, in order to identify risks and inform risk scenarios, trading decisions, and portfolio construction, as we seek to balance earnings, capital and liquidity for the enterprise.

Responsibilities of CIO Sr. Macro-Economic Analysts include:
  • Distill complex economic data for non-technical audiences, requiring excellent communicative ability
  • Communicate economic trends to non-economists in a way that is useful and significant to the understanding of bank balance sheet and income trends
  • High-frequency review and analysis of domestic and international economic events
  • Assessment of likelihood of specific geopolitical and market rate outcomes; identification of potentially impactful events for the enterprise
  • Real-time synthesis of newly-released economic data
  • Treasury point-of-contact for economic impacts of central bank, fiscal and regulatory policies
  • Work across the enterprise to develop and implement consistent macro-economic framework, including models, variables, and input assumptions
  • Prepare presentations for executive committees; inform senior management of relevant landscape changes
  • Engage, inform junior employees with weekly meetings about timely economic topics
  • Disseminate macroeconomic data in user-friendly, low-touch method designed to engage all of Treasury
  • Develop statistical and econometric models for economic forecasting
  • Research various overlapping issues, including politics, healthcare, education, and energy
  • Write blog pieces for publication
  • Develop visualizations of economic data that are displayed internally on research web site and in automated chart books
  • Engender operational excellence as a key consideration of both tactical and strategic workstreams

Required Skills:
  • PhD in Economics, Econometrics, or Finance - or related senior level experience
  • 1+ years post-graduate working experience in private industry, public policy, or academia
  • Expertise in macro-economic analysis and forecasting, including both theory and empirical methods
  • Programming skills in Python, R, or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints to respond to requests from senior management
  • Self-starter; Initiates work independently, before being asked
  • Strong team player able to seamlessly transition between contributing individually and collaborating on team projects
  • Strong attention to detail

Desired Skills:
  • 1-3 years economist experience in a major financial, public or international institution
  • Knowledge base of data sources, recent research and historical developments
  • Experience in time series analysis and macro modelling
  • Proactive and passionate about working on complex problem solving
