Job Summary

Barings is looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee the firms global operations and technology enterprise. The COO role is a key member of the Global Executive Leadership team, reporting to the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The goal of the COO position is to secure the functionality of business to drive extensive and sustainable growth. The COO will also be responsible for developing a technology led transformation of Barings global operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Chairman & CEO to develop and accomplish goals and strategic plans for growth; including leading the transformation of the firms operating model
  • Motivate and lead a high performance management team; mentor direct reports to cultivate skills and to increase consciousness of inter-relationship between each department in the operations group
  • Translate the strategic plan to staff to ensure support; modify plans in response to changing internal and external factors
  • Design and deliver an agile organization structure that enables the movement of people and resources quickly to adjust to operational needs
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth; regularly review performance and productivity
  • Establish operational policies that support and promote a technology driven operations culture and vision
  • Uphold, safeguard and promote values and philosophy relating to ethics, integrity and social responsibility

Qualifications

  • BA required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of comprehensive and progressive experience in operations and technology within the financial services or technology industries
  • Executive-level leadership experience in results-driven environment
  • Proven leader with ability to develop next-generation talent
  • Team-driven orientation with ability to collaborate effectively with peers
  • Previous experience executing business expansion and transformation projects, including overseeing deployment of new systems and developing lean operating procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Strong aptitude in decision making and problem solving
  • Proven ability to influence thinking and apply complicated strategies
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding people and systems
