Job Description

The User Experience Design and Software Engineering LDP is an 18-month commitment crafted to cultivate your business knowledge, gain on-the-job training, network in an encouraging, inclusive, team-based environment, have exposure to senior leaders and contribute to the success of the company through three, 6-month rotations. In addition, you will have access to our Business Resource Networks, including the Black Employee Network, Young Professionals Network, PRIDE Network, and others!

The User Experience Design and Software Engineering LDP rotates through and completes work within the following business areas:

• JavaScript development (focus on React, ES6, TypeScript) on an agile product team
• Product designer and design technologist work on an agile product team
• Development on analytics, monitoring and other kinds of event measurement
• Design Operations and design system work

After exploring the breadth of the business unit(s) through each rotation, LDPs may have the opportunity to post to a permanent position within Ameriprise Financial.

Responsibilities

As a User Experience Design and Software Engineering LDP, you will contribute to the success of the company by delivering technology and user experience solutions that support the evolving needs of our clients, advisors, and employees. You will work with cross-functional teams of designers, developers, and product owners to improve and maintain our client experience on our public websites and secure web applications. Responsibilities vary depending on current rotation and assigned projects(s) and may include:

• Agile software/product development

• User experience research and strategy

• Product design

• Front-end engineering in the context of large multi-team applications

• DevOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes and cloud deployment

• Development on design systems and scalable component libraries

• Digital Analytics

Required Qualifications

• Current Senior at a 4-year university pursing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, User Experience, Graphic Design, Product Design, Design Thinking, or related field
• Graduation date of December 2021 or May/June 2022
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Previous internship experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience
• Commitment to complete the full 18-month Leadership Development Program

Preferred Qualifications

• High degree of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Ability to work and communicate collaboratively with all levels of the organization including team members, managers, and senior leaders
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Creative, strategic, and technical skill sets
• 1-3 years of relevant experience
• Previous undergraduate internship experience within Technology or Software UX/Design
