Manager - Accounting
Job Description Manage statutory accounting and reporting processes for insurance companies ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and statutory accounting standards. Lead / assist on enterprise / team projects (i.e. new statutory accounting standards, system projects, rating agency surveys, etc.).
Responsibilities - Manage quarterly and annual statutory accounting and reporting for RiverSource and RiverSource of NY including set-up, review and approval of quarterly/annual investment schedules, preparation of financial statement footnotes, review of IMR/AVR calculations and RBC inputs
- Assist directors in implementation of new statutory accounting projects and standards including development and documentation of procedures and establishment of controls
- Prepare investment data for inclusion in rating agency surveys
- Lead or assist on enterprise and team projects (i.e. new statutory accounting standards, system projects, rating agency surveys, etc.).
- Provide people leadership to one senior accountant and work direct other senior accountants on statutory reporting. Manage performance, seeks professional development opportunities for each and provides the coaching.
Required Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 to 7 years of investment accounting experience including 2+ years of demonstrated leadership
Preferred Qualifications - Strong business knowledge of investments and GAAP and statutory accounting treatment
- Proven ability to lead through change and strong ability to problem solve
- Ability to handle detailed work; analyze results, yet understand the "big picture"
- Strong understanding of systems, controls, accounting knowledge, financials, and processes within multiple legal entities.
