Job Description

Manage the development of communication strategies, tactics and tools for driving business results efforts across the company with a particular focus on leading the communications for Joe Sweeney's organization including Wealth Management Solutions, Ameriprise Bank, Ameriprise India and Service & Operations. Partner with additional business units, including RiverSource Insurance & Annuities, and staff groups to ensure communication objectives and strategies are implemented successfully. Support corporate communications team members in achieving quality messaging and delivery through coaching and development.

Responsibilities

• Provide communication consulting and relationship leader support for Executive Leadership Team member of specific businesses and senior leadership teams, including Joe Sweeney and his leadership team and RiverSource. Identify key messages and manage the development of communication strategies, tactics and tools for driving business results. Promote the company's brand and business to employee, advisor and shareholders.
• Work closely with Corporate Communications team members (Integrated Business Unit Communications, Media Relations, Shareholder Communications and Communications Delivery) to develop content, ensure consistent messaging and implement delivery of communications.
• Write, edit and coordinate communications to employees, field members and other audiences to ensure alignment with overall communication plan.
• Provide effective leadership to direct reports incorporate performance management practices through individual performance plans, periodic reviews and feedback sessions, coaching and development.
• Serve as a member of the Corporate Communications department leadership group.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years experience in corporate communications, media relations or related field.
• Strong understanding of retail financial services.
• People leadership experience.
• Strong influencing skills and proven effectiveness in consulting with different business areas.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of wealth management and banking solutions and industry.
• Experience supporting executive leadership
