Job Description

The Advice & Wealth Management Risk LDP is an 18-month commitment crafted to cultivate your business knowledge, gain on-the-job training, network in an encouraging, inclusive, team-based environment, have exposure to senior leaders and contribute to the success of the company through three, 6-month rotations. In addition, you will have access to our Business Resource Networks, including the Black Employee Network, Young Professionals Network, PRIDE Network, and others!

Advice & Wealth Management (AWM) Business Development and Operations is the growth engine for Ameriprise Financial and approximately 10,000 branded financial advisors who help clients plan to achieve their dreams and financial goals and a dedicated corporate staff focused on driving profitable growth in the employee and franchise advisor platforms. The Supervision department is part of the AWM organization and comprised of the Centralized Supervision Unit (CSU) and the Front Office focused on managing risk and running a compliant organization. The CSU completes day to day supervision of new accounts, annuities & insurance, securities trades, client communications, financial advice reviews and other work in support of the Ameriprise field force. The Front Office manages a variety of operational functions that include supervision technology support, supervisory procedure development and a host of other risk identification and resolution functions. The department also collaborates closely with colleagues in the General Counsel's Office (GCO), where the Compliance department, legal and regulatory affairs functions reside.

The AWM Risk LDP rotates through and completes work within three different areas within Supervision, based on business need, which could include areas such as:

- Supervisory Technology Tools & Business Support
- Supervision Support & Implementation
- Risk Governance & Infrastructure
- Risk Loss & Recoveries Trending & Heightened Supervision
- Trade Corrections & Supervisory Design
- Marketing & Communications Supervision
- Advice Supervision
- Insurance & Annuities Supervision
- Complex Products Supervision
- Trade & New Account Review Supervision

After exploring the breadth of the business unit(s) through each rotation, LDPs may have the opportunity to post to a permanent position within Ameriprise Financial such as a business analyst, supervision specialist, compliance analyst, or registered principal roles within AWM.


As a Risk LDP, you will support the success of our Supervision team by maintaining close and effective working relationships with leaders, registered principals, and business partners. Responsibilities vary depending on current rotation and assigned projects(s) and may include:

- Performing analysis, recommendations and leading enhancements to existing processes and reports
- Participating on project teams responsible for implementing and executing new policies
- Creating, updating, and managing review processes for new/existing communications
- Drafting and maintaining project plans and status reports
- Capturing and tracking project issues and assisting with resolution

Examples of past LDP projects include:
- Implementing enhancements for a highly visible field leader dashboard, providing solutions that made the report more interactive, accessible and useful to field members
- Running a trend analysis of advisor education notices
- Developed a new report to assist registered principals identify trends across supervisory functions

Required Qualifications

- Current Senior at a 4-year university pursing a bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Communications, Finance, Economics, Auditing, Marketing, or related field
- Graduation date of December 2021 or May/June 2022
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Previous internship experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Commitment to complete the full 18-month Leadership Development Program

- Ability to learn new concepts quickly and influential ability to drive results
- High degree of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Ability to work and communicate collaboratively with all levels of the organization including team members, managers, and senior leaders
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel
