Management Advisory & Compliance Services Analyst

Job Purpose
Towson University is currently accepting applications for a Management Advisory and Compliance Services Analyst. Reporting to the Management Advisory and Compliance Services Director, the Analyst is responsible for performing compliance and process reviews to evaluate University departments and their functions to determine the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control and the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities and recommend improvements. In addition, this position is responsible for assisting in coordinating responses to and compliance with external audit report comments.

Description
The Management Advisory and Compliance Services Analyst performs various analyses and reviews to evaluate the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of university operations. Conducts compliance reviews to determine whether departments are performing in compliance with University, University System of Maryland and State policies and procedures. Determines and documents compliance deficiencies and recommends effective controls. Assists in the coordination of responses to University System of Maryland Internal and other external auditors. Assists departments to correct identified deficiencies and assists external auditors with preparing and reviewing information and documentation. Designs and conducts or assists in a wide range of management and other special reviews to assess the internal controls; recommends improvements and performs testing to complete reviews and evaluations. Periodically monitors financial information, compliance, questionable transactions and fraud by developing and utilizing various tools and methods. Assists with developing presentations and information for the campus community through meetings, training and newsletters.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of accounting, auditing and assessment of internal controls or financial analysis experience. Master's degree in business or related field, or additional certification (e.g., CPA, CFE, CIA) preferred. Knowledge of IT related controls strongly preferred. Candidates must possess knowledge of professional accounting and auditing standards and other laws and regulations, strong analytical and communication skills, and be able to work as an effective team member. Experience with PeopleSoft Financials, Crystal Reporting and Active Data preferred.
