We are seeking a Capital Markets Quantitative Analyst to support the distressed residential mortgage trading desk for the large real estate investment fund manager. You should be proficient at manipulating and analyzing large data sets, have superior knowledge of fixed income mathematics and real estate/ private equity / hedge fund concepts, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. In this trade desk analytics position, you will support investment decisions, portfolio performance monitoring, fund reporting, and daily asset management oversight.

Responsibilities / Essential Job Duties         

  • Build, expand, and maintain financial models
  • Measure and monitor investment performance to optimize profitability
  • Assist in the development of investment pricing strategies and provide the analytical framework and support for such strategies
  • Maintain existing and assist in the development of additional portfolio analysis and executive management reporting
  • Utilize computer skills to manipulate large data sets (MS Excel, VBA, SQL, Python)
  • Pursue potential opportunities to improve efficiency and contribute to the technological evolution and analytical capabilities of Capital Markets
  • Work on ad-hoc projects as required by the business to address specific concerns and uncertainties as they arise with analytical and research-driven ideas
  • Additional responsibilities related to business needs

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or post graduate degree with demonstrated academic achievement in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, engineering, statistics, or computer science
  • Candidates must demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, computer programming, strategic and creative thinking, distinguished written and verbal communications skills
  • 0 to 5 years professional experience with large financial institution
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, SQL, and Visual Basic
  • Familiarity performing statistical analysis (Python, R, SAS)
  • Strong attention to detail; exercise strong quality control over own work
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • A passion and interest in the US capital markets, and ability to learn and use a wide range of market data sources
  • Ability to create and maintain complex financial models
  • Strong understanding of finance, accounting, valuation techniques; familiarity with US accounting standards, mortgage banking, and fixed income
  • Desire to work in fast paced and high stress environment
  • Commitment to enhancing and developing products
  • Well organized with high attention to detail
  • Solid work ethic and dependability
  • Mortgage, Real Estate, structured products, hedge fund, or private equity experience or relevant coursework preferred
