Department Profile:
Morgan Stanley is committed to a strong Financial Crimes program to protect against the use of the Firm's products, services and facilities for prohibited transactions or the purpose of evading, avoiding or otherwise circumventing sanctions, AML or anti-corruption regulation. The Firm has adopted a comprehensive, risk-based program to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and government guidance.

Global Financial Crimes (GFC) coordinates day-to-day implementation of the Firm's enterprise-wide financial crime prevention efforts. GFC includes several legal and compliance disciplines and has responsibility for governance, oversight, and execution of the Firm's AML, sanctions, and anti-corruption compliance programs. GFC also develops and/or assists in the development of appropriate policies and procedures, including those designed to assist the business units to know their customers and conduct appropriate due diligence and to prevent, detect, and report potentially suspicious activity.

GFC has dedicated coverage managers and teams of analysts who advise and counsel each business unit regarding its AML, sanctions, and anti-corruption obligations and its particular clients and transactions.

Background on the Team:
The mission of the Core Functions group is to support the GFC program through (1) the delivery and maintenance of the program's foundation and pillars, (2) the maintenance of program controls, and (3) the execution of assurance functions and, through that support, to promote consistency across business lines and regions in the day-to-day implementation of the program. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the business unit and regional teams to support the implementation of KYC Controls.
Reporting Lines:
This role reports to the Deputy KYC Officer.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Firm's global KYC program, including customer identification, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, customer risk ranking, and periodic review
- Collaborate with AML Coverage Managers, Operations, IT, and business stakeholders on the implementation of regional and business line KYC policies and procedures that follow the program standards established by global KYC policies
- Assist in driving KYC program enhancements to meet new legal requirements, evolving regulatory expectations, industry best practices and self-identified program needs
- Such additional responsibilities as may be identified

Qualifications:

Skills required:
- College degree with strong academic credentials
- 1-3 years of professional experience in a Financial Crimes, Compliance, Audit, or Risk Management capacity within the financial services industry
- Strong analytical and IT skills
- Certification as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist by ACAMS or equivalent AML certification/license - or certification within 15 months of hire

Skills desired:
- Understanding of the practical impact of KYC requirements on day-to-day business and operational functions such as client onboarding and periodic review
- Understanding of financial markets, institutional sales & trading, retail wealth management, and bank lending
