Team Profile
The Operational Risk Control Testing and Review Team develops and implements operational risk and control initiatives within the Wealth Management business. We build trust-based relationships with Field Management, Product and Business Support teams to improve the front office control environment. We challenge the status-quo to uncover and realize efficiencies, accept accountability for persistent improvement, and leverage our broad spectrum of expertise to monitor and mitigate risk and detect unknown control gaps through a robust testing program.

Role: Vice President, Control Testing & Review Team (Baltimore, MD)

This role will provide broad exposure to all functions and business lines within Wealth Management. The main responsibilities of this role will be to contribute to Wealth Management Operational Risk initiatives which focus on mitigating risk and improving the control environment within Wealth Management. The work consists of ongoing, business as usual processes as well as discrete projects that are strategic in nature.

Specific duties within the WM Operational risk team will include:

  • Create monthly and quarterly Wealth Management Risk issue and action plan management reporting in partnership with key stakeholders. Present content to senior leadership during WM Risk committee meetings
  • Execute issue and action plan tracking based on Firm Operational Risk incident data and Wealth Management sourced data. Tracking is intended to ensure that high value projects, including regulatory and mandatory "change the bank" initiatives, are appropriate and remain on-track
  • Conduct quality control reviews on remediated issues to ensure that action plans implemented by business control units were sufficient to address underlying risks. Provide feedback and identify opportunities to improve solutions where appropriate
  • Manage the Wealth Management risk acceptance process through coordination and tracking of open issues that must be brought before committee review. Identify and shepherd previously risk accepted items that may require renewal or closure
  • Provide business control units with training and guidance on Wealth Management Risk systems and repositories. Support development of Risk Dashboards and coordinate with Firm Operational Risk to define and implement enhancements to Firm risk infrastructure
  • Maintain and update team procedures, tools and job aids to help facilitate effective administration of the Wealth Management Risk group


  • At least eight (8) years of financial services experience (preferably in wealth management)
  • Strong project management skills and firm understanding of operational risk management concepts
  • Must be able to deal with changing priorities, make good tactical decisions and communicate execution risk timely
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is critical, given the executive audience for much of the team's work. A candidate needs to be collaborative and able to build effective working relationships with all levels of employees across the organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as the role involves interaction with senior business stakeholders, operational subject matter experts, firm and wealth management risk partners, compliance and audit functions
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor's Degree
