Scope of Position:

The North American (NA) Continuity Services Regional Head is the senior lead accountable for the Continuity Program, Compliance, and Risk Controls across the North American region. Additionally, the individual is accountable for the Global Incident Management (IM) team. The role reports into the Global Head of Continuity and Incident Management and based on the incident management component, may require non-traditional working hours. This individual will interface closely with, and provide influence to, senior and executive leadership at corporate, business unit, and regional levels. The role also requires effective and respected relationships with senior levels at regulators, clients and industry peers. The role is at a Managing Director level and will have management oversight of Regional Continuity staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

The NA Continuity Services Regional Head will provide strategic direction and oversight regarding the continued evolution of the regional program both in relation to the unique regional needs but also in alignment with the global program. The NA Regional Head will also manage strategic initiatives that span the business lines and regions, maintaining alignment with Corporate Strategy and the Global Continuity Programs Strategic Plan, endorsed by the Executive Continuity Steering Committee. The roles major responsibilities will include the following:

Regional Continuity Program:

  • Set the regional strategy and work with the Global Continuity Services (GCS) team to continuously evolve the program and standards to proactively respond to regulatory and business changes
  • Establish and maintain an effective program in alignment with regional laws and regulations, partnering closely with second and third line of defense partners
  • Establish credibility across the region while, holding business leaders primarily accountable for the quality and effectiveness of continuity plans and incident response
  • Deliver training program components
  • Manage the Business Continuity Management System in line with the Corporations roadmap and work with the user community to deliver system enhancements

Global Incident Management:

  • Ensure continuity and personal data breaches are handled in a timely manner
  • Support incidents and share in the on call responsibilities

Compliance and Risk Controls:

  • Oversee, report, and escalate on regional compliance and risks
  • Provide regular updates to regulators as appropriate
  • Identify gaps within the program including within the teams capabilities and work with local and global management to determine approach to resolve

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Complete additional projects and responsibilities and assigned by the Global Head of Continuity and Incident Management
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other Continuity Services Regional Heads
  • Establish and maintain a team with the proper skill set and suite of capabilities to meet the regional continuity and incident management needs, while in alignment with the global perspective
  • Participate as requested in regional industry groups, conferences to gain perspective and concepts to further evolve the program
  • Establish and maintain an approved regional budget

Qualifications:

  • Five plus years experience in Business Continuity and Incident Management
  • Ten plus years related industry experience
  • Continuity or Risk certification preferred (e.g. MBCP, CBCP, etc.)
  • Works well under high-pressure and stressful situations
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills (clients, regulators, boards, and executives)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, drive results, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to interface and influence with all levels within the organization
  • Project management, analysis and reporting experience helpful
