A ROLE YOU WILL LOVE

Responsible for performing and supervisingactivities related to business controls, audit research & response,analytics, special projects, and implementations related to processimprovement, streamlining, and efficiency gains within the SLS OperationsAreas. 

PrimaryAccountabilities

  • Business Controls have different teams, taskswill be different depending on the team assigned:

  • Develop loan level and portfolio level testingto validate business processes to ensure critical functions are operatingproperly.  Research and respond tofindings from Servicing Assurance and Internal Audit. Prepare monthly reportingon results.

  • OR
  • Coordinate the intake of recurring and ad hocaudit requests from external and internal clients. Facilitate documentrequests, research, and final responses. Communication of issues, potentialprocess enhancements, and status of audit performance to management and SLSOperations area.

  • OR
  • Identify, lead, and oversee projects andanalysis related to process workflows and controls to establish superioroperational performance within SLS. Work with IT to complete technical projectsand act as the liaison between the business and IT.

  • OR
  • Facilitate exception reporting and identifypositive conditions impacting Agency default reporting edits. Review andcomplete the appeal process for Agency Compensatory fees. Review and CompleteRoot-Cause Analysis for servicing-related Repurchase Demands received fromAgencies. Track State Compliance changes and notifies business units of newrequirements.

  • Supervise employees on the team performingbusiness controls functions, including: training, monitoring workflow andperformance, approving timecards and time off, and hiring/firing decisions.

  • Complete root-cause analysis and presentfindings to impacted business unit(s).

  • Review current policies and procedures toidentify process gaps and opportunities for improvement.

  • Other duties or tasks as assigned bymanagement.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Strong organizational and critical thinkingskills, while being self motivated and understanding sense of urgency.

  • Strong ability to communicate with outsidevendors and internal employees of all levels for implementation of new andexisting projects.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlineswith attention to detail.

  • Proficient knowledge of personal computersusing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Visio with advancedskills required in Excel, Access, Visio, and Power Point.

  • Ability to learn and operate all in-housecomputer systems and a variety of vendor software applications.

  • Ability to effectively communicate withcoworkers, peers, and all levels of management through written and verbalcommunication.

  • Ability to prepare and present structuredmaterials to any size groups in a professional and organized fashion.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Educationand Experience

Required:
  • 4+ years mortgage servicing experience.
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent workexperience.

  • Knowledge of industry standard businesspractices, procedures, and compliance requirements relating to mortgageservicing

  • For Agency position Knowledge of Agencyprocess and reporting requirements a plus.

  • Project management, audit, or complianceexperiences a plus.

  • Previous experience with mortgage servicingsystems preferred.

  • Supervisory experience of 2-5 associatesrequired larger groups preferred.

TravelRequired

It is expected that this position may includetravel up to 10% of the time. This is subject to change based on many factors,including business needs.

LanguageAbility

Ability to read/comprehend simpleinstructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence;effectively present information in one-on-one/small group situations tocustomers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MathematicalAbility

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbersand to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money andweight measurement, volume, and distance.
