Job Description The Sr. Divisional Controller manages financial administration responsibilities for multiple business units. Major activities include: preparing financial and operational reports, establishing and maintaining strong financial and accounting controls, preparing financial and operational analysis to support business decisions, drafting annual external financial statements the business units, and advising business units and executive management on the financial consequences of business decisions.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Directs and coordinates all financial support functions for multiple business units focusing on the preparation, analysis and financial control of budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
  • Manages through a team of managers and senior level individual contributors. Allocates resources within the group, assigning projects and re-allocating workloads depending on changing priorities. Responsible for the professional development of staff; setting goals and objectives and communicating regularly with staff as to performance. Ensure that staff is appropriately trained, instructed and kept current on issues affecting the industry. Provide coaching, and make decisions regarding employment, compensation and performance ratings.
  • Communicates and presents business units operating results, budgets, forecasts, financial trends, and cost initiatives to business units management, Corporate Finance management and the MFS Management Committee. Directs the analysis of costs specific to functions and products within the respective business unit to support business needs of the business unit and Corporate Finance.
  • Actively participates with Corporate Finance and other Divisional Controllers on initiatives to improve the monthly close process, budget and forecast processes, and to develop new financial systems applications and upgrades to financial systems applications, as applicable.
  • Provides Corporate Finance with each business unit information necessary to support corporate level analysis and benchmarking initiatives.
  • Directs the development, preparation and maintenance of various financial and operational reports.
  • Develops and implements control systems to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and statutory requirements.
  • Develops and implements a goal setting process to ensure compliance with objectives of business unit and Corporate Finance.
  • Supports the annual independent audit, periodic regulatory reviews, and internal audits.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and CPA plus 10 years of related experience, or an MBA plus 7 years of related experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, management and communication skills.
  • Expertise in spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications, and experience in the design and implementation of financial applications.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
