Senior Accountant and Controls Specialist

This position carries with it strong opportunities for professional development and will interact with senior management. The position will report to the Global Head of Accounting Policy and Internal Controls.


This position has two primary responsibilities

• Working within a fast paced team environment to meet the firm's internal and external financial reporting requirements.
• Helping to evolve our processes and controls to be more forward looking and data driven leveraging cutting edge technology, data analytics and process improvement techniques. 

The key responsibilities of this position will include:

Controls & Process Improvement

  • Coordinate and lead the walkthroughs of processes with all key stakeholders

  • Identify risks and facilitate the business in their assessment of these risks

  • Collaborate with the various groups to design and implement controls that leverage data analytics

  • Facilitate the flowcharting of these process and documenting risk and controls

  • Assist in the development and design of dashboard reporting of KPIs

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement through use of technology, increased use of data analytics to conduct processes and controls etc.

Financial Reporting

  • Assume ownership of accounting and reporting for Wellington's domestic and international legal entities by performing and potentially supervising accounting tasks, such as journal entries and reconciliation, as well as performing financial analysis

  • Assist in the preparation and issuance of various financial statements, including providing external audit support such as audit work papers and responding to auditor inquiries

  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly and quarterly  internal management reporting

  • Provide support in the completion of regulatory reporting and assist in the monitoring of regulatory compliance across entities

  • Maintain technical knowledge in the applicable US and international accounting and reporting standards


  • 4-7 years of previous working experience with at least 3 years of relevant experience

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting and/or a CPA (or CPA candidate) is preferred

  • Experience in the public accounting is preferred  

  • Risk and Controls - Process documentation, risk assessments, control design etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to improve processes and financial controls

  • Familiarity with technologies such as AI, RPA, Tableau etc. a plus

  • Continuous improvement  and innovative mindset

  • Self-starter with the ability to move projects forward 

  • Excellent Microsoft word, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint skills

  • Experience with Workday Financials a plus

  • Supervisory Abilities - Proven ability to oversee the work of at least one individual.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks.

  • Hands-on, detail-oriented person who can be successful under tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills, interacting and collaborating, with all levels of counterparties both internal and external of the company
