Reporting to the Manager of Compensation Accounting, this senior accountant analyst position will be a key member of the Compensation Accounting team within the Global Accounting department of Wellington Management Company, LLP. The senior accountant is responsible for traditional accounting duties related to the monthly accounting close for Wellington's Compensation Accounting team.

  • Journal entry preparation, including preparation of supporting work papers and analysis for management control and audit purposes
  • Close collaboration with Payroll to ensure accurate and complete accounting across multinational locations
  • Review the work of colleagues, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedule
  • Ensure procedure documentation is prepared and maintained
  • Analysis of designated compensation expense accounts, including trend analysis and predictive modelling
  • Preparation of monthly management financial reporting
  • Maintain relationship with external auditors and ensure their request are fulfilled completely and timely
  • Preparation of cash-basis accounting records
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of management


Ideally candidates will have prior experience as an accountant in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Candidates from Public Accounting are welcome. Should have proven abilities to rapidly master new activities, coupled with strong analytical skills and strict attention to detail. Superior communication skills, including written and verbal presentation elements, are critical for success in this role. Specific qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with strong academic credentials preferred
  • Experience of finance or accounting. Knowledge of payroll / compensation accounting a plus
  • Extensive experience with general ledger accounting and use of GL packages (Workday a plus)
  • Analytical aptitude with demonstrated ability to handle large and complex sets of data with strong attention to detail
  • Expertise working across multiple systems and data sets in an integrated environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams
  • Strong Excel skills required; Knowledge of Tableau a plus
  • Proven ability to master new tasks quickly and make recommendations on improving processes
