Reporting to the Company and Bank’s Director of Risk Analytics, the incumbent will have an in-depth specialization in one of the two core competencies of the Group: 1) Portfolio Reporting/Analytics or 2) Model Development and Review.  In addition to working with Risk Analysts I and II to execute specific deliverables, the Risk Analyst III will be expected to assist the Director in the management of these major tasks from project planning to final documentation.

The Risk Analyst III will be charged with developing and executing the tactical elements of a deliverable to a substantial degree that could entail periodic updates to the Director on progress or to contribute to major decision.  The role will require thinking creatively about potential paths to executing on lower complexity deliverables that could involve collaborating closely with the Director on strategic elements of an initiative.  The Risk Analyst III will sometimes serve in a final quality control check function for the Risk Analyst II and 1 positions.

The Risk Analyst III will be expected to have developed substantial depth in a range of skill sets that will facilitate the execution of the more complex deliverables within the group.  Examples of subject areas are statistics, credit risk analytics, loan underwriting and writing and reading code in programs such as R.

The Risk Analyst III will represent the Group in periodic workgroup meetings that are focused on mechanics and communicate well with a wide range of participants including, on occasion, senior officers.  The role requires more cross-disciplinary work and is expected to serve as a resource for other areas of the Bank.   A point of differentiation from the Risk Analyst II role is that there is an expectation that the Risk Analyst III will be able to communicate points that convey the interests of the Risk function for certain initiatives that are not high priority, but still impactful.

While there will be a concentration in one of the two areas noted above, the Risk Analyst III will continue to be expected to perform a wide range of roles as necessary and demonstrate some ability to link concepts and resources from different silos to effect solutions to requests for analytics.

Responsibilities, Duties, and Accountabilities:

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • While helping to execute existing reporting, a unique task will be to perform qualitative controls over the work of the Risk Analyst I and II.
  • Provide subject matter expertise support to the Risk Analyst II and I.
  • With some reports, perform the first wave of research and generate the first draft of comments.
  • In concert with the Director, play a significant role in the development of new reporting.
  • Complete deliverables for the stress testing function and going the extra mile to suggest better approaches when able.
  • In concert with the Director, develop the first pass at project plans for analytical projects and then manage to the milestones in the plan.
  • Execute tasks on the most analytically complex deliverables either in the reporting or model development silos.
  • Higher proficiency expected to be demonstrated in managing relationships with constituencies from other functional areas when warranted. Demonstrate a customer service focus when fielding requests for assistance from other functions to perform complex analytical work.
  • Contribute to the development of new analytical tools with the close guidance of the Director of the Group.

  • Undergraduate degree in Data Management, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, or related preferred
  • 3 -5 years experience in  statistical and credit risk analytics
  • Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of programs including but not limited to: MS Excel, MS Access, MS Visio and/or Other Stat/Math Programs such as R or Python.
