FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY

As a global team of approximately 90 professionals located in the US, India and Poland, Financial and Regulatory Assurance (FRA) is comprised of the Sarbanes-Oxley function, Regulatory Assurance for CCAR, Basel and Resolution & Recovery Planning and Regulatory Reporting Assurance for the enterprises numerous regulatory filings. FRA is an independent, Second Line of Defense (SLOD) control function within the Finance organization, with a mission to:

  • Provide credible challenge to management to drive compliance with regulatory and policy requirements
  • Support executive management and the board by reporting on the effectiveness of key financial and regulatory processes and controls
  • Advise in the proactive identification of operational and compliance risks and effective mitigation strategies through effective business partnership
ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the SVP, Head of FRA and as a member of the FRA leadership team, the Vice President of the FRA Strategy & Operations team will provide leadership of FRAs strategic and operational activities across all FRA teams including:

  • Leading FRAs SLOD Compliance function in alignment with the enterprise Compliance Risk Management Policy, which involves compliance with applicable rules, laws, statutes and regulations, organizational standards and codes of conduct that regulate State Streets financial services activities and functions that support those activities
  • Collaborating with the FRA leadership team to identify and implement key initiatives to strengthen the impact and effectiveness of FRA
  • Monitoring FRAs performance to its annual plan, managing and reporting on issues management activity
  • Serving as the central point of contact for FRAs reporting to governance and board-level committees to ensure the content is accurate, complete and provides value-added perspective and insights
  • Driving staffing-related activities including recruiting, hiring, training, skills assessment
  • Managing the FRA methodology, department procedures, quality assurance and documentation standards

As part of the transformational changes underway in FRA, the incumbent will partner with Enterprise Risk Management, (including Operational Risk Management and Compliance) and Finance and Controllership representatives to adopt and influence compliance and risk management strategies both within and beyond Finance. The individual will work alongside the established three lines of defense to complement and strengthen existing enterprise wide programs on a global level

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build and continuously develop a dedicated team to achieve and sustain an effective Second Line of Defense function and best-in-class controls oversight framework
  • Deliver annual risk-based compliance plans to assess the effectiveness of the First Line of Defense within Finance, and allow FRA work to serve as an increasing basis of reliance for the Third Line of Defense and the external auditors
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to FRA and its stakeholders on compliance, internal controls and risk mitigation strategies
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and partners
  • Develop a deep understanding of the global business model, corporate functions activities, products, and processes to support a risk- based approach to controls oversight and monitoring
  • Influence and direct methodologies, approach and reporting capabilities resulting in continuous improvement of the operating model
  • Support the cultural change efforts across the Controllership organization to drive enhanced individual accountability, closer interaction with the business and increased stature of the Controllership network in oversight of the controls that are outside the SOX process
  • Manage FRAs collaborate site to communicate FRAs services, provide value-added information to stakeholders and represent the FRA brand and mission.
