Principal Engineer, Investment Systems
Position Overview:
This position has design, development and maintenance responsibility for the software programs, databases and processes associated with our core business environments. This would include working with a small team to support a broad range of applications in research, investments, front office and trading applications. The role requires direct interaction with end users and excellent analytical and communication skills.
Acadian supports a hybrid work environment; employees are on-site in the Boston office 3 days a week.
What You’ll Do:
- Work on an engineering team to design and develop applications to support the business units
- Assume responsibility for ongoing maintenance of existing core business applications
- Work collaboratively within IT and various business units across the firm
We’re Looking for Teammates With:
- B.S. or M.S. in computer science or equivalent
- 10+ years experience in software development
- 5+ years experience in financial management / services
- Solid knowledge of modern software design principles, concepts, and practices
- Significant experience with Python and associated technologies
- Significant experience with relational databases and SQL
- Knowledge of C# / Microsoft stack a plus
- Experience leading a technical team a plus
- Experience with cloud-based development (AWS preferred)
- Experience with a major cloud provider (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Building and deploying applications in a cloud environment
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Monitoring, logging, and basic cloud security practices
The base salary range for this role is $190,000 – $215,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and relevant experience. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for discretionary incentive compensation and includes participation in Acadian’s comprehensive benefits program, which includes health, retirement, and wellness offerings.
