The primary responsibilitfor the candidate accepted into the Investment Associate program is to work with research analysts, portfolio managers, and traders on a dailybasis to assist in Putnams investment processewithin the Securitized Product group. The Investment Associate will work directly with a quantitative analyst in Fixed I nc o me  who  will  ser ve as  their men t or d uri ng  t heir  t ime  at P utn am.

Position Responsibilities

Use Putnam and third party investment tools to produce various analyses broadly focused on Securitized Product securities and valuation

Gather, verify, adjust, and summarize research information

Assist analysts in the research process including the execution of various short-term  a nalysis p r oj ects and longer term model development

Build and update tools and models using a wide varietof spreadsheet, statistical ana lysis, and  d atabase  software applicationstools and models range from individual security analysis to todown econometrim o d eli n g

Create spreadsheets and other documents that effectively communicatkey investment positions and risks to team

Qualifications

Mi nim um of a BA or BS de gree req uired and an a d va n ced de gree prefer red. Maj or in fi na nce, ec o n omics, physical sc iences, e ngi neer i ng, math em atics or s imi lar disc i pl ine is p refe rred

Prior work experience in the financial industry with firm understanding of basic fixed income or equity concepts where applicable is desired.

Experience in quantitative research and analysis

Superior undergraduate record

Excellent computer skills including in-depth knowledge of SQL, VBA and Excel and experience with Mat labC++, Java, S+, or similar programming languages. Good understanding of object oriented programming principles and software design is a plus.

Good knowledge of econometric principles is desired.
