Fund Controller – Business Operations

POSITION

The Fund Controller will report to the WMF US Fund Services Business Operations Associate Director. WMF US Fund Services is responsible for the oversight and support of operations, accounting, and administration for Wellington sponsored commingled funds. This role requires frequent collaboration with other Wellington teams and external service providers. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage and oversee service providers, and hold them accountable for agreed upon service levels

  • Lead efforts related to pool events, including pool openings/closings, and asset in-kind transaction

  • Perform on-going activities associated with WMF US Fund Services' oversight of accounting, custody, valuation, and reporting requirements

  • Lead, manage, and document business projects as defined by the strategic initiatives of the firm, Wellington Trust, and the demands of our clients to include liaising with Portfolio Management, Product Management, Trading, Derivative Operations, Corporate Actions, Portfolio Services, Client Service, L&C, Tax, and external service providers

  • Identify opportunities to enhance oversight models, including automation of existing controls and procedures

  • Develop materials and present to senior management on various business initiatives

  • Build and maintain industry contacts with other Sponsors and alternative service providers



JOB QUALIFICATIONS                                                                    

  • A college undergraduate degree, preferably in finance, economics, accounting, or business

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a fund accounting, fund administration, investment operations, or a related role

  • Advanced technology skills in the context of analyzing/managing large amounts of data (SQL, Access, Python, etc.)

  • Experience with various product types and complex financial instruments.

  • Desire and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment, performing multiple tasks and balancing competing priorities

  • Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • A client service mindset and strong communication skills

  • Desire to lead projects and cross functional initiatives

  • Possession of or progress towards a CFA charter or MBA is a plus
