Fixed Income Investment Director

POSITION

We are seeking to recruit an Investment Director to join our Fixed Income Product Management team in Boston.  This individual will lead business and marketing strategy and act as the investment representative for specified products, and ensure the integrity of our investment and risk management processes. This role requires highly developed skills in marketing strategy, communication, portfolio analysis, and a solid foundation in investments. The successful candidate is a flexible problem solver with a can-do attitude who takes ownership of issues. S/he will work closely with Fixed Income Portfolio Managers, members of the Global Relationship Group and other functional areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities include: 

Portfolio manager proxy

  • Act as the subject matter expert internally and externally, presenting to audiences of varying sophistication levels;
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of investment strategies and markets in representing portfolio management teams;
  • Generate original investment content that differentiates investment processes and portfolios from the competition;
  • Manage portfolio managers' time with clients; and
  • Develop close working relationships with relationship managers, business developers, and portfolio managers.


Product management
  • Create and implement marketing strategies as well as marketing and client materials;
  • Manage the business: vet opportunities, establish fees, and set and manage capacity;
  • Lead the development of new strategies and solutions and negotiate guidelines; and
  • Lead the resolution of internal business issues (e.g. attribution analysis, vehicle terms, capacity allocation).


Investment integrity
  • Manage investment integrity of our portfolios on behalf of clients:
  • Set appropriate client expectations for performance in various market environments;
  • Identify investment and operational risk issues and recommend process improvements; and  
  • Conduct regular risk and performance attribution reviews for the portfolio management team.
  • Highlight issues for line management, Risk Advisory Council and Review Group discussions; and
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the firm in the course business and during client negotiations.


QUALIFICATIONS
A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in a related role ideally at an investment management organization; consulting experience will also be considered;
  • Strong fixed income background: prior portfolio management and/or product management experience preferred;
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Excellent quantitative and problem solving skills: ability to synthesize risk and attribution analysis;
  • Strong business judgment;
  • Flexibility: ability to work independently and in a team environment with multiple priorities;
  • Creativity, attention to detail and leadership skills;
  • Willingness to develop knowledge of non-traditional instruments and complex strategies;
  • Willingness to travel; and
  • Strong academic credentials: an advanced degree, CFA, and language skills are preferred.
