Basic Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the sourcing, underwriting, diligence, and closing of institutional grade real estate assets for a national multi-sector portfolio of over 100 properties with a value in excess of $5 billion.

The individual will be involved in all aspects of the acquisition and disposition activities of the Real Estate Investment Group. Individual will report to REIG Director of Acquisitions and Dispositions and will work collaboratively with other professionals inside and outside the Real Estate Investment Group including asset management, finance, legal and fund administration.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • (30% of time) Help source potential investments through local market research and through maintaining broker/investment advisor relationships.
  • (30% of time) Analysis of prospective property acquisitions, including but not limited to, market and submarket analysis, property conditions assessment, preparation of financial projections, assessment of tenant credit, and the investigation of ownership structure impact from the perspectives of risk and return, tax, and accounting.
  • (5% of time) Make recommendations to Investment Committee with respect to such acquisitions and dispositions, including thorough sell/hold analyses.
  • (30% of time) Coordinate and conduct due diligence of transactions, including coordinating and review of property appraisals, environmental reports, engineering reports, legal documents, leases, and assessment of management quality due diligence.
  • (5% of time) Liaison with external and internal attorneys, as well as internal colleagues inside and outside of Real Estate Investment Group to ensure smooth processing of investment transactions. Prepare hand-off documentation for Asset Management to ensure proper transition of completed transactions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree preferably with a major related to real estate, finance or accounting.
  • Masters Degree or CFA Preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of real estate related work experience, preferably including transactional work within the institutional multifamily sector
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the work week
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Advanced spreadsheet knowledge and advanced computer skills as well as a strong math orientation and numerical aptitude. Proficiency in Excel and Argus required
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential
  • Strong customer service orientation toward both internal and external customers is required
