SUMMARY - The Application Developer works as part of the Information Technology Department to provide oversight for all application development activities within the firm. This position is responsible for assisting with the scheduling of development activities, project management, mid- level technical direction, and operational management, and reports to a Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain ownership for all application development. Coordinate development team efforts with the Director of Application Development and IT Relationship Managers to meet the business priorities, and report development status to the above mentioned and business owners, via IT Project Calendar, work plan updates, and status reports. Function as key member of project team, participating in management decisions and issue resolution, and oversee development team work product and deliverables for delivery on time and on budget Develop and implement software development lifecycle (SDLC) process that can be used for consistent delivery applications and maintenance of intellectual property. Create development methodology and technical strategy to position the firm for current and future application development needs. Provide programming team technical and functional team leadership. Ensure compliance with identified processes to deliver consistently and with minimal interruption to the business. Exception reporting of issues/problems/customer needs as they occur to senior IT management and appropriate IT Relationship Managers. Management of fiscal impact of technical operations and functions. Provide mentoring/coaching and perform formal performance management - both functional and technical - to members of the Application Development team. Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field. Minimum of five to eight years of experience in medium sized corporate environment or professional services organization. Complete mastery of the .Net Framework. Understanding of systems development methodology best practices, and operations management principles and how to apply them to a growing development organization. Ability to support 80+ applications, and manage a concurrent flow of 6-10 large projects through development organization. Project management skills including planning, WBS, requirements gathering, and project team coordination. Proven leadership skills coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to work in an ambiguous and/or changing work environment.
