Job Description

As a leading insurance and financial services company focused on meeting the evolving need of public K-12 teachers and employees of other non-profit organizations, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Director, Field Operations and Compliance within the Field Operations and Distribution Division located in Springfield, Illinois.


The Field Operations and Compliance Director provides leadership and management oversight for units within Field Operations that support the background investigation process for all agents and their staff (licensed and non-licensed); the appointment of licensed agents and staff and the onboarding of newly appointed agents. A key responsibility for the Director is the development, oversight and execution of policies and procedures designed to ensure agent/agency compliance with company policies and procedures. This highly visible position requires regular interaction with field and home office leadership and the ability to effectively communicate with various levels of the organization. The Director will interact regularly with the vendors that support our appointment and background investigation processes.


  • Provide expertise and oversight for all aspects of state insurance licensing to ensure compliance with laws/regulations and internal policies/procedures. Includes management of both internal licensing staff and our contractual relationship with a third party vendor that executes the new appointment and appointment termination processes.
  • Develop and implement critical policies and procedures related to all matters of contract and compliance with internal policies and procedures. Proactively communicate with field and internal business partners regarding any new or changed processes.
  • Effectively manage all on-boarding and new agency appointment processes.
  • Manage and monitor critical processes related to the background investigation process for newly appointed agents and support staff (both licensed and non-licensed) as well as the annual incumbent background checks. Includes management of the contractual relationship with a third party vendor we utilize to obtain background information.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for all policy assignment activity, including transfer of interest and unrepresented account strategies.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for the territory/marketing area assignments.
  • Work cross functionally with peers and compliance colleagues to coordinate investigations related to market conduct referrals.
  • Effectively manage budget that exceeds $300,000 annually (excluding salaries)


  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing or other related field; or equivalent work experience
  • Five plus years of experience in agency operations, compliance or other insurance support function
  • 3-5 years prior people management experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in a professional role which requires detail orientation, sound decision making, strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with and handle highly confidential business matters.
