We are looking for an exceptional Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster Trainee to join our team and work from our Peoria (IL) office. This is an excellent opportunity for a career minded individual to get hands on training on workers compensation claims in order to begin a career in workers compensation claims adjudication. This position is a transitional role leading to advancement to a Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster position.

Second, youll want to make sure the challenge sounds interesting to you. In this role you will:

  • Participate in a combination of on-the-job training and coursework with the intent of developing a career in workers compensation adjusting. As a Trainee you will learn basic claims skills, including effective time management skills, determining coverage, jurisdictional knowledge, claims investigation, subrogation identification, and lien management. You will do so by managing medical only claims to ensure bills appropriate to the claim are paid on a timely basis.
  • Interact with our customers each and every day via email, telephone, and written correspondence.

What will you need to be successful here?

  • A relentless desire to continually update your skill level through continuing education and self-development. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or two or more industry designations are required.
  • An eagerness and desire to learn the Medical Only claims function with the intent of becoming a Claims Adjuster.
  • Being able to communicate with empathy is crucial. We work in a fast paced environment that is evolving constantly; so flexibility and the ability to thrive in change are important to be successful here. As is being resourceful on your own.
  • Natural curiosity is key.
  • With lots of tasks competing for your time, excellent time management and prioritization skills are important.
  • Being able to communicate with empathy is crucial. Being able to politely but firmly tell someone no is also important. Telling people no is never easy or pleasant, but you will need the communication skills to professionally, clearly, and factually explain the reason why the answer is No, if that is the right answer.
  • You will need good conflict resolution skills to help the other party understand the position that has been presented.
  • Youll need a good head on your shoulders to create innovative strategies to resolve claims to the best possible outcome.
  • An appreciation and passion for strong claim management.
  • Being able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing is essential. Being able to communication fluently in Spanish as well, both verbally and in writing, is a significant plus, but not required.
  • General knowledge of workers compensation insurance preferred, but not required.
