Position Summary

Citi Retail Services North America: Citi Retail Services (RS) organization is a leading U.S. Retail Cards business, with a 40%+ market share and greater than $4 6 B in receivables across 40+ million open active Card member accounts.  RS provides retail card products to the customers of a diverse group of major national retailers, oil companies and specialty retailers and dealers (the "Partners") 

This role serves as the Head of Risk Strategy, Control & Governance.  Responsibilities include (i) Lead a robust Control and Oversight Governance framework to achieve Strong Risk Management Control environment, (ii) Establish strong Policy Governance frame work to ensure adherence to all Citigroup Policies and (iii) Ensure the safety and soundness of the Retail Services portfolios - balancing Risks & Rewards to drive profitable growth and ensuring our partners and customers are appropriately and responsibly managed.

Key Responsibilities/Scope/Span-of-Control:

  • Reports to the Chief Risk Officer of Retail Services
  • Works closely with the Citi Business Heads within Retail Services as well as Global Risk Management leaders
  • Interaction with/influence internal clients, senior stakeholders, cross-functional partners, strategic vendors as well as internal and external oversight constituencies
  • Interface with both internal Audit / FCR  and Regulators
  • Build and lead a high performing risk policy team, use expertise and experience to develop a pipeline of talented leaders

Key Collaboration Points:

  • Citi Business, Functional & Operations teams supporting the Retail Services portfolios
  • Legal, Compliance, Fair Lending teams within NA Cards and Global teams Independent Risk
  • Oversight constituencies including various Regulatory organizations such as OCC, CFPB and FRB as well as Internal Audit and FCR.


Business and Technical Requirements:

  • 15+ years of relevant financial services Risk Management experience required
  • Full knowledge of card product P&L dynamics and the interaction of consumer behaviors, product configuration and market/economic environment
  • Strong analytic skills and deep understanding of the retail partner business model
  • Demonstrated successful in managing risk policy/strategy through the economic cycle and/or in various environments; protecting and growing the business as it enters and exits economic stress
  • Hands on experience with portfolio performance monitoring and diagnostics
  • Education includes demonstrated knowledge in an analytic field including engineering, mathematics, statistics
  • Strong knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations and the current environment which govern our policies and practices
