Position Summary

Citi Retail Services is seeking an experienced leader for a managerial role within its risk management team.  This position serves as the risk head for Citi Retail Services secured lending program within the Power-sports Industry segment, responsible for all credit and collateral management policy and administration, as well as having accountability for the risk team that maintains the various risk systems and decision platforms executing authorization, credit line and account management strategies across all CRS portfolios. 

Additionally, this role will provided risk leadership on select strategic initiatives, assist with the coordination of activities within the broader risk and business teams, as well as serve as a key functional member of the new partner program boarding team and will establish various system settings, deploy risk policies and strategies and test systemic strategy execution in support of all new partner program launches.

As the Risk Leader responsible for directing and managing the Power-sports lending program, this role has end-to-end risk responsibilities for multiple Partner/OEM relationships utilizing the secured, open-end revolving credit card product. These responsibilities include direct risk oversight for the Power-sports program, establishment of performance targets and control limits within the portfolio, risk policy and strategy development, portfolio modeling and reporting, pricing model support and validation (including supplying and validating portfolio pro forma drivers, asset growth / liquidation curves and loss assumptions), compliance collateral and asset management policies and procedures, asset valuation, title tracking, fraud control and operational practices. This role will monitor and ensure compliance with the Bank's Global Risk & Fraud Policy (GCGFRP) and Collateral Management Policy (CMP), as well as interact with many cross functional team including, operational risk management (ORM), independent global risk and the collateral management policy team.

Based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, the role will provide leadership within the CRS business and work to define risk policies and business solutions by providing analytical insight to enhance critical business decisions.  This position will also shape the strategic direction and business decisions around the risk systems infrastructure and ensure that various risk systems and processes are properly maintained and capable of executing the policies and strategies as intended, and deployed to maintain acceptable risk / return dynamics and positive customer experiences within the unsecured and secured card portfolios.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in a large, sophisticated credit granting or risk management organization within a major consumer card, financial services, retailing or consulting business.  Their experience will have been gained in high volume, medium-to-high risk environments, where leadership, risk assessment, technological sophistication, and data mining techniques are critical to success.  This individual will promote a strong culture of effective leadership, teamwork, and open participation.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the implementation of all ECM risk strategies in the CRS decision engines, including pre and post-implementation testing and validation
  • Define and manage the secured program goals and risk tolerances (including RAF) and develop innovative solutions/options to maintain proper risk / reward trade offs 
  • Successfully lead various strategic initiatives and / or complex analytical projects within CRS (with particular focus on secured products, systems infrastructure and development, risk control processes, new partner launches and program / product features)
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management infrastructure for the secured lending segment, the Power-sports portfolio(s), including the Management Information Systems (MIS), which will serve as a key control for managing the portfolio through emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Hire, train and develop risk team members, identify appropriate and timely training programs, and actively participate in employee assessment processes
  • Build and maintain cross-functional partnerships and networks to contribute and drive strong execution around key business initiatives
  • Establish, monitor and manage all secured lending and asset management processes, including monthly review of control reports, performance and volume tracking, delinquency and loss performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance with Citi's internal policies and external regulatory and policy compliance.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Strong leadership track record, and experience dealing with a variety of card disciplines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and proficient in risk systems and/or SQL and SAS programming
  • Experience in the design, implementation, validation and deployment of scoring and segmentation strategies and models
  • Working knowledge of the U.S. consumer lending regulatory environment


  • Minimum Education: BS/BA degree (advanced degree or equivalent education / experience is preferred)
  • Minimum Experience: Advanced level experience in related role with extensive experience in the lending business, functional and people management. Additionally, a strong understanding of risk management concepts and strategies, credit card operations and compliance / regulatory environment and oversight is required
