JOB SUMMARY:
Provides legal and administrative support to in-house counsel. The successful candidate will work closely with in-house counsel and others in the Legal Department in regards to litigation, bankruptcies, collections and disputes.  Additional responsibilities may also include reviewing and drafting summaries of contracts, leases and other documents, communicating with outside counsel and responding to requests for information organizing and maintaining legal documents and other responsibilities as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with review, redaction, duplication and indexing of documents for pending litigation
  • Review draft correspondence pleadings, motions and other litigation documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain and update case files on all pending matters
  • Track and monitor case schedules and deadlines
  • Respond to internal questions regarding status of pending litigation
  • Update and maintain internal litigation database and prepare related reports
  • Draft routine correspondence to tenants and vendors
  • Review and interpret contracts, leases and other legal documents
  • Assist with asset searches of businesses and individuals
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working for an in-house legal department or law firm
  • Prior real estate experience is a plus
  • Bachelors degree, Associates degree or Paralegal certificate required
  • Knowledge of legal principles and practices, legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook proficiency required
