Risk Management Policy Senior Associate

Position Description:
The Risk Management Policy Senior Associate will be responsible for leading efforts to shape risk management and capital policy, leveraging industry knowledge, experience, and data analysis skills. Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for risk management standards, governance, regulatory reporting, and financial safeguards. Lead risk management development for major project initiatives in Clearing, including policy changes, rule changes, and regulatory responses reflective of new business initiates, proposed regulatory changes, and ad-hoc data requests.

Liaise with regulatory bodies as they define CME's link to the financial system and importance in preserving financial stability. This includes assessing systemic risk through quantitative analysis, the potential impact of proposed regulatory changes, as well as managing regulatory requests and education efforts related to our risk management policies/procedures. Lead effort to educate clearing firms and clients on changing regulatory regimes and implications to the business.

Develop and execute strategic plans in consultation with internal and external parties. Ensure effective communication and presentation of initiatives to clients and regulatory bodies. Lead the effort to keep CME Group senior management appraised of various regulatory regime developments affecting our business. Work closely with others in Risk, Clearing, and other Divisions of CME Group such as Legal and Corporate Development in achieving CME Group Business Principles.

Deliver high quality results for high priority and time sensitive projects that require independent thinking and taking initiative to fully define the problem and recommending solutions. Ability to deliver creative, data-driven solutions in a fluid environment, often with only partially developed requirements or a known end result without a clearly defined path for arrival. Solutions often require frequent interaction with senior management from banks, firms, and regulatory bodies to assess client needs and requirements as our business initiatives evolve.

Educate others within the Risk Management teams regarding risk management polices/procedures.

Qualifications:
Requirements of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Undergraduate degree in finance, computer science or similar discipline. Master or MBA preferred. Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in risk management, policy, related regulatory field or management consulting for the industry or financial services with bank capital expertise preferred. Candidate must possess demonstrated quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing multiple datasets, as well as the ability to work flexibly in a team environment. Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel. Excel Macro VBA programming is required. Ability to develop custom solutions using Visual Basic and SQL. Python skills preferred, but not required. The successful candidate must also possess strong oral and written communication skills.
