About the Position

Guggenheim is seeking a confident and highly motivated candidate to join its Transaction Services team as a Trade Operations Analyst. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring funding, settlement and registration of alternative products, including physical securities and private placements. In addition, this person will be involved in firms broker dealer approval process as well as monitoring daily controls and producing reporting for senior management in the department and across the firm. Strict attention to detail and the confidence to introduce new ideas to the process are imperative to being successful in this role. Due to the high visibility with investment teams, legal and client service teams, strong communication skills are critical to developing internal and external relationships.

This position is located in the Chicago office.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Initiate funding and settlement instructions to custodians and administrators for alternative product transactions.
  • Work closely with Investment Teams, Legal and Client Service to ensure proper registration with Trustees and timely deal closing.
  • Engage with global operations teams in the production and oversight of daily control reporting for the department for distribution to senior management.
  • Create, modify and terminate approved broker dealers on the operating system. Additionally, provide necessary documentation as part of an annual counterparty risk review and KYC process.
  • Prepare cash wire instructions in bank portal applications to support settlement of multiple asset classes.
  • Initiate and track both compensation and income claims for multiple asset classes.
  • Actively assist in the creation and development of workflow tools through Excel/VBA.
  • Participate in department and firm wide projects and initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Candidate must have an undergraduate degree in finance with at least 3-5 years of experience in financial services operations. Ideal candidate will have at least 1-3 years of proven experience in investment management firms.
  • Broad understanding of the markets and various fixed income instruments, including asset-backed securities, loans, corporate bonds and derivatives.
  • Firm understanding of trade lifecycle including funding mechanics and income payment. Experience with alternative products and/or registration is a plus.
  • Must be able to operate in a stressful, deadline driven environment while still maintaining a strict attention to detail and ability to prioritize issues appropriately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative and critically analyze processes and procedures in a push toward constant improvement.
