We are looking for motivated and talented students who want to help us solve some of the most complex Engineering and Operations challenges within the financial services industry. We are dedicated to deploying customer focused solutions with passion and precision. Potential work could include data quality initiatives to maintain the configuration management database and improve service management reporting as well as hands-on operational support of cyber defense applications that handle file integrity monitoring, security event and incident management processing and data activity monitoring.
CME Group Global Information Security (GIS) interns will gain an unparalleled learning experience, focusing on obtaining an in-depth understanding of cyber defense technology and processes used by the GIS Cyber Defense Engineering department. Interns will have the opportunity to work with a variety of divisions, departments and projects that directly impact daily operations.

Interns can participate in several core activities, including:
  • Work with internal teams to obtain hands-on experience and daily operations coverage for some of the following technologies:
    • Network Security - Proxy, Security Incident & Event Management (SIEM), File Integrity Management (FIM), Host Intrusion Detection System (HIDS), Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS), etc.
    • Application & Data Security Technology - Web Application Firewall (WAF), Data Leakage Protection (DLP), Data Activity Monitoring (DAM), etc.
    • User End Point Security Technology - Anti-Virus, Forensic, Vulnerability Management, etc.
  • Review cyber defense application operations requirements and complete the daily operations support tasks
  • Maintain the standard operations procedures and other documentation to support daily application operations
  • Respond to inquiries from cross function support teams concerning the cyber defense applications
  • Proactively monitor and manage the CyberDefense Tools to possibly circumvent a failure or degradation of service resulting in less than optimal information asset protection

Minimum qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree
  • Studying computer science, cyber security, risk management or related field
  • Familiarity in application support for cyber defense security tools such as SIEM, Web Proxy, File Integrity Monitoring and Web Application Firewalls.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and eagerness to expand knowledge.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and manage an event / situation to a positive conclusion.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to interact with and support globally dispersed virtual team members.
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts a plus.
  • A passion for learning

Bonus qualifications:
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts
  • Familiarity with NIST Framework for Critical Infrastructure
