The Role: The Key Account Manager is responsible for driving the overall client satisfaction experience within a group of assigned institutional client accounts and managing these accounts as his/her own "business." The candidate will cover both data services and investable product clients. The successful candidate will possess a willingness to be hands-on and do what it takes to meet client objectives, the ability to assess resource needs and to coordinate various team and other internal resources to create a seamless, world class experience. This position is based in the US, ideally in our Chicago office, and may require moderate travel (contingent on travel guidelines per Covid-19).


  • Responsible for driving the overall satisfaction experience within a group of assigned institutional client accounts and managing these accounts as his/her own business.
  • Assist with client implementations.
  • Deliver superior customer service.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Product to ensure onboarding process exceeds client expectations.
  • Proactively provide existing clients value add content, research, whitepapers to support
  • Understand each clients strategy and initiatives for the calendar year. Provide feedback to Sales and Product teams.
  • Identify new opportunities with existing clients.
  • Work with the Marketing group to ensure the marketing strategy is in line with the clients needs and is being delivered in a time efficient manner.
  • Provide training to the assigned client based on the clients contract details and attend regular client meetings.
  • Support the sales team and product management to help them understand the client and Morningstar contractual obligations.
  • Organize, schedule and lead all client calls and meetings and follow through to ensure all discussed topics are addressed and deadlines are made and met.


  • 4 or more years of client service experience within the financial services industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Effective organization and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail and self-motivation in an independent, fast-paced work environment.
  • Good understanding of indexes, ETFs, Mutual Funds, Separate Accounts, financial and investment concepts, and the financial services industry, in general.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelors degree. An MBA or CFA is a plus.
