This position is for a person who wants to perform analytical work in a unique firm where practical asset management is merged with scientific inquiry. Core Capital Management LLC is an Alternative Investment Services and Finance Research firm. Core manages specialty portfolios of alternative investments and performs advisory services. Core invests mainly in hedge funds, opportunistic and private credit funds.
Core portfolios are highly differentiated, being mono asset class concentrated portfolios. - Excellent knowledge of markets and financial instruments, including equity and credit derivatives is a must
- Understanding of alternative investing, including complex credit and volatility hedge fund strategies
- Experience in finance and capital markets
- Graduate degree, preferably in finance, economics or business is a plus
- 3+ years of work experience in hedge funds, fund of funds, academia or other security or market analysis or investment role
- Ability to make decisions and sustain arguments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
This is first and foremost a hedge fund sourcing, due diligence and monitoring position. The analyst will make both pre- and post- investment recommendations and support them with high-quality analytical work. The ability to merge qualitative and quantitative critical thinking is of utmost importance. The candidate will be required to rigorously follow processes and demonstrate attention to detail while at the same time stay creative and show initiative. Some form of programming experience can be helpful (Excel, VBA) because it is expected that the analyst will help improve the risk systems and participate in the scientific research. The analyst will also be involved in consultative work.
It is very important that the candidate is entrepreneurial and thrives working as part of a small team. The individual should be willing to take initiative. We expect the candidate to be able to perform complex due diligence in a research-based framework which evolves through the introduction of new concepts, methods and tools, and be able to explain this to existing and potential investors.
The analyst will source, research, and recommend alternative investments: hedge funds, opportunistic funds and/or co-investments by conducting qualitative and quantitative due diligence, interviewing fund managers both offsite and onsite and developing investment theses. The analyst will also participate in the monitoring of current investments, both qualitative and quantitative. The analyst will cover hedge fund managers from all strategies and geographies.
The analyst should expect to be directly involved in interactions with investors. The individual might also participate in scientific research projects in finance, working directly with the CIO. These are conducted in house for internal purposes and/or for external clients.
In time, in collaboration with the CIO, it is expected that the analyst will be given increased responsibilities in the management of the portfolios.
