About this role

Team Overview

The Firm Reporting & Analytics team in the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department is seeking an Associate to join its team in New York. The team works closely with FP&A, Human Resources, Investor Relations, Treasury, Tax, Controllers, Corporate Strategy and Corporate Development to improve business analysis, better inform management decision-making and communicate more effectively with key partners.

The Firm Reporting & Analytics team provides direct support to the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Office and other Senior Management in the areas of planning, forecasting, reporting and value-added analysis. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and be able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


  • Create and improve financial models utilizing Cognos TM1/excel to analyze budgets and forecasts for the company, businesses and products

  • Analyze and reconcile expense data to make sure firm wide forecasts are accurate and outputs are generated efficiently

  • Analyze and understand business needs, processes and operating models as well as the tools and technology in place to support FP&A

  • Assist in the coordination and production of BlackRock's business level and firm-wide financial reporting, including but not limited to the annual budget, monthly forecast and quarterly business reviews

  • Proactively identify areas of FP&A and the business to implement standardized reporting or operational improvements

  • Collaborate with other areas of FP&A and Finance to meet deadlines and achieve optimal outcomes 

  • Ability to engage and build communication across teams through creative and innovative means

  • Provide support for ad-hoc project work

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience, financial services experience a plus

  • Exceptional Excel skills required, experience with IBM Cognos/TM1 strongly preferred, VBA skills a plus

  • Attention to detail and high standards for quality and accuracy in work product

  • Ability to clearly articulate and present ideas both in written presentations and orally

  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, innovative thinking and vision

  • Proven ability to work/navigate in a large organization.

  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to support multiple projects

  • Work effectively under pressure in a rapidly changing environment in order to meet deadlines

  • A great attitude and strong work ethic

  • Willing to challenge the status quo
