In order to help institutions, financial professionals, and their clients, the Market Research Consultancy provides research, consultation, and analysis to empower Franklin Templeton to offer the tools and knowledge needed to make informed investment decisions more confidently. The Capital Markets Research Consultant will be responsible for studying wealth management outlook from major U.S. brokerage houses, studying investment outlook from Franklin Templeton Investment Groups, independent economic and capital market analysis, and organizing analysis into research publications and chart packs for internal and external use. Consulting with business partners and communicating the results of capital markets analysis are key responsibilities for the Capital Markets Research Consultant role.

What are the responsibilities of a person in this position?

  • Developing a viewpoint on the capital markets, informed by external wealth manager views and internal investment manager views
  • Economic analysis
  • Capital market analysis
  • Portfolio/fund analysis
  • Consulting with investment and product management professionals
  • Consulting with national account management and investment platform sales professionals
  • Consulting with sales and marketing professionals
  • Organizing research, analysis, and views into high quality presentations and publications

What qualities will make a candidate successful in this role?
  • Graduate degree in economics, finance, or mathematics required
  • Progress towards earning CFA Charter holder or equivalent postgraduate training or experience required
  • Minimum 4-6 years of financial analysis or investment management consulting experience
  • Advanced MS Excel skills required
  • Proficiency in various quantitative research systems (ex FactSet Premium, Bloomberg Professional, Morningstar Direct) required
  • Experience using structured query and statistical programming languages preferred
  • Experience using visual analysis and business intelligence tools preferred
  • Knowledge of US wealth management firms and advisory platforms preferred
  • Student of the markets and an ability to connect macro trends with investment mandates required
  • Experience communicating and presenting results of analysis to diverse groups of stakeholders, including executive stakeholders, required
